Route Kitchen Extractor Hood Duct Through Garage

Hi,
I intend to fit a kitchen extractor hood above my hob. Unfortunately, the only practical route for the duct will be through a wall and into an attached single story garage, from here the the duct will travel vertically and exit through the garage roof, I've found a suitable chimney this. The duct will be approx. 2m in length.
I've seen in an old forum that to maintain fire integrity the duct in the garage must be enclosed in plasterboard. Is this still the case?
Also, the vent will exit the garage roof approx. 1m away from a kitchen velux window, would this be a problem?
Thanks.
