:( My neighbour knocked our party wall down, removing two of our fence panels to build his extension upto the boundary line without party wall agreement and we have now received a letter asking us to sign this document which says :- we had an agreement with him back in Mar 2006 that he could take the party wall down. We did not give any permission or sign any agreement. How do we stand legally???

Refuse to sign and speak to a local Party Wall Surveyor. The wall that he removed would have been a Party Fence Wall, but regardless, if the face fo the wall is up to the boundary then there must be footings projecting onto your land. You can attend to a retrospective party wall award, your local surveyor would be able to adivse on this.
