Crooked door or kitchen cabinet in new kitchen install

Hello. I have recently installed a new kitchen and on some of the cabinets I cannot get the doors to line up with the cabinet. I have used the adjustments on the hinges and if the sides of the door line up with the decorative end panel, then the gap between the door and the pelmet/cornice is uneven (wider at one end of the door and narrow at the other). If I adjust it then the issue then moves to the sides/end panel. Could it be the hinges or something else? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi paularch1984.
The front of your cupboards are not a true rectangle, this is probably due to the wall they are fitted to is not flat. You will have to correct this by fitting packing pieces top and bottom against the wall.

Thanks for the reply. Will this rectify the issue with the current cupboards or will it need to be new cabinets? Also will the end panels need replacing as there is sure to be a gap between the end panel and the wall?

Hi paularch1984,
You should be able to correct this without needing any new bits. Floor units are usually not a problem they can be adjusted using the screw feet. Wall units are more difficult, I'll assume they are level at the back - remove any lower fixings into the wall and try levering one side of the cabinet off the wall, you'll soon see what needs correcting. Suggest you use wedges and work along the wall units until it's right, you can then screw them back to the wall (leaving wedges in place)
Regards,
S

I am trying to understand why there is a kitchen door question in the DIY computer forum.

Apologies new to the site so may have posted in the incorrect place. So I have yet to rectify the cabinets. Will there be any lasting damage to them? I intend to do it two weeks from now.

Hi paularch1984,
Provided you have not loaded them with lots of heavy stuff eg tins, you should still be able to make adjustments.
