I have a problem - no audio output.
Can you supply a step by step check list to locate the source of the problem please. I have tried updating audio drivers and the windows XP audio set up facilities.
I suspect that the inbuilt sound card may be defective . I have a KT4AV AMD Athlon XP Processor. on an SM5/SM5-A motherboard.
Thanks
Roy

I have had problems in the past where a windows update has messed up drivers and have needed to down-load up-dated drivers. In extreme case re-install windows. But first you need to check hardware. I use Linux trial disk. These will boot from DVD and allow you to test the Linux operating system without installing often given away with Linux mags. They have all the drivers built in and it will tell you if it has found sound card etc. If one of these disks finds your sound card then hardware is OK if not then maybe card is faulty. Very unusual for card to go faulty. I have triple boot on my PC normal is XP but some old software and hardware needs Win98se and TV card works best in Mempis one of the Linux family not surprising when most new TV's run on Linux. I am not a big Linux user but it does have it's uses also handy to access password protected PC's All that stuff you think no one can access and read forget it. Linux lets you open the lot.

by inbuilt sound card, I presume you mean integrated into the motherboard.

In which case you need to know the make of the motherboard and download the respective AC97 sound drivers form their website for your specific model. Other models probably wont work.
