Heavily stained summer house floor

Hi,
I am in the process of clearing out and adapting a wooden chalet type summer house/large shed. Previously the summer house has been used by my ex-husband as a painter's studio and the wooden floor is heavily stained, including with artists oil paint. I'd like the retain the log cabin feel so reluctant to completely re-floor but also have a feeling that cleaning the wood down might be very difficult. Does anyone have any tips or ideas about best way forward? Thanks!
