Hi,
My neighbour recently had his fence painted with creosote substitute, and splashes of it have gone on my upvc window frame.

The workmen have tried a few things to get the stains out,but none have worked.Any ideas anyone,or is this going to be an insurance matter ?

I was going to try JIF cleaner or Brillo pads, but didn't want to either take the shine off,or make an insurance claim invalid.

Many thanks.

Hi,
I would think the stain has penetrated the surface of the PVC. There are two products that may help, one is used by window installers, and is intended for the purpose, Siroflex Solvent Cleaner. The other would be Cif cleaner, as you suggested, it's very similar to the purpose made PVC restorers on the market. Try a small area and see how it goes. Do not try Brillo.

It's worth a try, but I suspect your neighbour is going to have to pay out !

you could try talcum powder, it soaks up most substances
