Cleaning marble mantlepieces

Hi! First-time poster, so I hope I'm in the right forum.
I recently bought a Victorian house with two marble mantlepieces which I believe to be originals. They are stained (although not severely) with dabs of old paint, coffee rings and cement, and scored with very fine scratches. What would be the best way of cleaning them, and is there any way of removing the scratches?
Any advice gratefully received, thank you!
