Hi,

First time poster here and DIY newbie so please be gentle.

Last year I had a conservatory put on the back of my house but at the time didn't realize just how much light would be blocked out if my kitchen with the old door there. So last night, probably bouyed by the good weather I removed the door from its hinges. All nice and simple obviously but I want to move forward and remove the door frame and window next to it. I am assuming I dont need to support the bricks above once I have removed the window but can just remove it without fear of my house falling down around me? Told you I was a complete newbie.

Any help is greatly appreciated

chris

Hi
Yes there will be no problem removeing the framwork. Load bearing walls are only made with timber in new pre fab buildings.
There will be a lintel above the framework taking all the weight if it is a load bearing wall.
Enjoy your new light :D
