Loft conversion in Victorian house

Hi,

I live in a Victorian terrace house in Aberdeen, Scotland. My query regards the loft space in the house which must have been converted around 50years ago with a fixed winder staircase, plaster and lath applied to the rafters and a small dormer type window. My question is whether your readers would consider this a habitable room. If so, can I go ahead and apply some insulation to improve the whole house!

Edpaterson,
Not sure how you would like the term "habitable room" interpeted. From your description you could use it for domestic purposes and therefore it is a habitable room.
Yes, insulation could be added but make sure there is a ventilated space between the insulation and the outer skin of your property.ie roof or wall.
