How to Remove and Replace a Cracked Tile?

I have a cracked tile, installed for about a year, on a window ledge. It’s a hairline crack and I don’t know how it happened. My tiger advised me against removing as it is attached to edging and he’s worried it might cause damage to the edging and tiles to remove it. I don’t want to risk that, but what do others think? He thinks grinding it out will be messy too.

Yes that is annoying. Removing the tile may cause the trim to lift causing the other tiles to lift also. However I would think if you are careful and use a grinder to cut the tile in a few places and then use a small bolster chisel to break out the tile you should be ok. That would be your safest bet I would think. You always run the risk though of damaging the trim so be very careful. Once the tile is out clear off all the adhesive and laying a new tile as normal.
