Advice for Garage Conversion to Basic Games/Fitness Area

Hi everyone,

So recently moved into new house with the other half. Having fun redecorating the inside of the house but the garage outside is going to waste. We;ve agreed we dont use it for the cars as the drive is big enough for two so was wanting to convert into a basic boarded games/room - fitness area.

We are both new to the DIY game being in our early 20's and this being our first house and are essentially a bit clueless with garage conversions.

My plan - (which may sound utterly hilarious to someone more experienced so brace yourselves) was to get
1) apprx 10 MDF 2cm thick boards to line the iron behind and drill through with MDF screws into the iron to act as a "border" all the way round and makeshift walls (so we can put posters/art etc on).
2) Then for the ceiling use some cheaper plywood/sheet material to create a roofing of some kind and not have the electrics exposed. 3)Change the fluorescent light fitting to a pendant basic light fitting.
4) Go to the local carpet retailer and get an office offcut to line the floor and make it look a bit tidier.

Then have it so one area is off for storage/Camping gear. The middle a pool table/sports worktop and the end a weight bench and small weight stack area ?squat rack. Im not too fussed about insulation so no worries on this.

Essentially - does this sound plausible or is there a much mor effective way of doing it. I didnt know if drilling through the MDF/iron border would be plausible or if id need to baton it somehow to have something to drill into more sturdy?

Please share your thoughts and opinions I have attached a few photos below so you can see what it looks like currently for yourselves. (Note photo files are too big to upload and i dont know to to resize on camera) can be emailed.

Kind Regards,

Josh
