Mould/Damp Prevention in Poorly Constructed Kitchen Extension

We have an old poorly constructed kitchen extension with a partly sloping roof. As there is no insulation at present in the roof we have huge damp and mould problems on the sloping part. Cannot afford to install insulation in the roof this year, does anyone have any stop gap ideas. So far I'm considering either insulated wall paper or insulation board on the Inside and paint over that just for a year or so. Any better ideas?
