Tyrolean!

Hi folks,

I've got the unthankful task of painting our 30's terrace. Pebble dash front and side. Looks like more cement based on the back (original). Side of the kitchen has had Tyrolean originally on it over 25 years to try and make it match the original. It's now starting to come off in big chunks.

My question is shall I just hack off the section on the side of the kitchen that's already falling off? Will the render underneath be ok as it is, once stabilising solution is used and painted?

Hi invader75
Whatever you are going to do to rectify the wall you are going to have to remove all loose material, once you have done this you can the assess the condition of the render underneath.

Sure. Any tips on removing the persistent stuff that's not flaking off?

Hi invader75
If it looks like the render is sound buy a diamond grinding disc from toolstation which fits a 4 1/2" angle grinder and grind off the stubborn bits..... assuming you have a small grinder.
