In the article Painting Wooden Garage Doors (
https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/p ... gedoor.htm), it recommends "microporous paint", which allows water vapour to escape but won't allow water to enter the wood. I enquired at 3 paint stores in Toronto and no one has heard of this paint, or any type of paint that allows water vapour to escape. Another UK website I visited describes microporous paint in greater detail. It is also called MVP paint, or Moisture Vapour Permeable paint. Might there be a different name for this type of paint in Canada?
