Slate floor tile grout - help please!

Hi, would appreciate some advice. The attached pics show the floor, that I need to grout around the edge of. There is a gap between the tiles and oak frame that I need to fill after shrinkage. My questions are:
What is the best product to use, should it be flexible?
Any ideas on what colour would match this the best?
Some of the gaps are up to 5cm deep, should I fill them with sand or something before using grout?
Any other advice or tips would be great. Many thanks.
