Painting plastic

I am trying to disguise 2 garden features:
1. This is a bright green plastic water butt (Which I inherited)
2. A small pvc plastic garden locker which is white with dk green sides.
Both of these are situated alongside a wooden fence and shed which is painted in traditional med/dk brown. So the above objects stand out like a sore thumb and I was hoping that a good qual Cuprinol fence paint would do the job to help these blend in.However on a trial this doesn't seem to work.Ideally a brown matt paint would suit, obviously fairly waterproof as well.
Any suggestions please?
