House bricks in garden

My garden contains a significant number of standard house bricks, which over time have proved that they are not waterproof / frostproof, as most have now crumbled to varying degrees, and I would like to replace them all as they are not particularly friendly on the eye.
I can easily replace those that are used as garden border markers (with something waterproof), but I am not sure what to do with those that form the edge of the main path. The path is an incline from the patio to the back of the garden, while the grass areas on either side of the path are flat – so the walls are reducing in height from bottom to top.
Any ideas.
