Tanalised timber - lifetime?

Hi All,
Following some groundworks to relay the drains crossing the garden and to lower the ground level, I need to make a retaining edge for some gravel, about 6 inches high and four feet long. The easiet aesthetically acceptable solution would be a tanalised board supported by maybe 2x2 tanalised posts driven into the ground. How long could I expect such an arrangement to last before the rot gets it?
