Hi, I've got some 6 inch timber posts to use for my decking supports. The decking is free standing and on a slope. The posts at the front will be about 2m from the ground to the deck.
Could you advise me on how deep and wide i need to dig the holes for concreting.

Many Thanks Simon

You say the height is around 2 meters ! I hope you have long posts. As a guide you would normally buy 8ft posts to build a 6ft fence .... ie 2ft goes into the ground.
If you are leaving about 7ft above ground then you will need 10ft posts (3mtr)and again should be looking to get the posts at least 600mm into the grond. If the ground is soft then more depth is required. A 6inch post normally sits in a 10inch wide hole or roughly a spades width. At this height from the ground you will need to cross brace your posts to stop your deck from swaying when loaded with people. Your intended deck is a complicated build. Check the TDA website for advice on its construction if yoare unsure at any stage.
