What are your frugal tips for growing fruit, vegetables and flowers?

I used my rocks to build a fountain and fish pond. Love the sound the running water makes, the birds and bees it attracts, makes it seem cooler. I'll post a picture. I even painted the rocks soft, natural colors so everything wasn't just grey in color, and the color has stayed for several years.
