How to Apply Slurry Primer to a Mortar Bed for Porcelain Tiles

I plan to lay porcelain tiles and the supplier is recommending applying slurry to the back of the porcelain tiles and also to the mortar bed they are laid on.
Has anyone ever applied slurry to the mortar bed? If so what method did you use?
