I have rebuilt my chaise lounge frame. I am now ready to re-install the cushion supports. They consist of a slim steel strap attached at both ends with a spring. One end attaches to the strap, and the other to a bolt attached to the side of the frame. I have nothing that I can stretch the springs about 1-1/2" And I'm no longer strong enough to pull them by hand. Your help sure would be welcome. The spring is about 1-1/4" long and approx' 1/2" in diameter.

Depending on how far you need to stretch them Harold, a lot of restorers use G clamps for this. Open the clamp to its fullest, place it over the frame and then ito the spring keeping the nose of the clamp back from the section of the spring which hooks over the bolt. Tighten the clamp and as the spring gets close to the bolt, push it on and release the clamp. G clamps can be hired from a tool hire shop or bought from our tool store.
