We have brickwork crumbling away below the dpc on the outside of the house. This side gets the worst weather, is it the frost/damp that has got into it? The bricks are very rough textured ones rather than 'normal' smooth ones'..

House does have dpc and this has occured underneath it. There is soil against the walls.....is this the problem?

What is the solution to repair/stop this happening, it looks awful! It was hidden behind plants so we didn't notice when we moved in..... and didn't get noticed in survey....

I would suggest clearing away the soil from the dpc this will prevent water
from splashing up the brickwork.
There should be at least 150mm or 2 bricks showing below dpc.
And to prevent further damage paint the brickwork with a clear silicone
based paint, aquaproof or something similar

Any ideas in how we rectify the existing damage, it looks very unsightly, we have dug away some soil and the brickwork below this level is even more damaged.............
