rain coming in

hi, can anyone help. have had a double story side extension built, architects plans state "walls - white painted pebble dash render with waterproofer on Celcon solar 215 blocks with 27mm thermal board. cn71 insulated lintels over windows with insulated gyproc to reveals". Had this built 4 years ago, after 6 months discovered rain coming through on window cills and damaging plaster work, had all windows resealled, still happened. last dec had all 4 windows replaced, first bit of rain we had started leaking, ahhh!!!!
now after reading architects plans discover no insulated gyproc around reveals, reveals just plastered directly onto blocks. also wall wasnt pebbledashed, just smooth rendered with waterproofer, if we now have the reveals done as stated would this solve our damp problem?

You need a serious discussion with your builder and should have done so 3½ years ago when the problem first raised it's ugly head.

Having said that, however, you almost cetainly have a winnable argument with the company that replaced your windows last December. The new windows were apparently inadequately sealed irrespective of any work to be done on the reveals.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice we did speak to our builders immediately however they didnt seem to know what to do and as they were private builders we had no guarantee with them.
The rain seems to be coming in under the cills, the windows have been sealed completely around the outside of the units, could it be insufficient sealant under the cills?

Oops. Did you pay them to do the job? Unless there was specific agreement in the contract they have to guarantee their workmanship.

Ahh thats more to the point. Get the window company back then.
