Brick frogs.

I read the bricklaying article with interest since I operate a building service. My dad, (Now deceased), was a top rate brickie and always held that bricks should be laid frog down in order to disperse wet ingress more quickly. I always said this gave rise to voids in the mortar bedding. I see your article and the relevant BS states frogs down and I see the logic.

However, when arguing with the old man years ago, he filled a frog with water and sure enough, it took ages to soak/drain away. I agree that according to your tutorial that we should lay them frog up but what do you think of the water retension question as maintained (Vociferously) by dad? Please comment.

grimsmith,
You need to re-read the article.
Always frogs up, filled with mortar.
