Hi
We have an old coach house in the garden. It was partly renovated before we moved in but has always smelt damp. It is not used very often. I recently noticed that the patio in front of the door was higher than the actual floor. I have since dug up the patio, and the ground is now lower than the floor inside. I was told this might have been one of the reasons why there was a damp smell. At the bottom of the patio door there is a row of original bricks. Would it help if I drilled holes in these to make my own air bricks or would that be pointless? There is no gap underneath the building. There is also an old chimney on the back wall which has been covered up and plastered over, if I opned this up would that help to get much needed air into the building? I believe one wall is single skin so don't want to create too much cold air as it is hard to heat up in the winter. It only has electric wall heaters. Any advice? Thanks
