Removing an old Fireplace and Marble Tile Fire Surround

Hello,
I have recently purchased a house in need some some repair, the one thing I am unsure about is how to remove the old fireplace and surround.
It is a gas fire mounted on top of a marble tile base with a marble tile/ wood surround.
The plan is to remove all this and have an inwall fireplace but I don’t know where to start.
What is the best way to take the old fireplace and surround out?
Best was to dispose of it?
How to install a new inwall fireplace?
Any help is greatly appreciated
