Advice on Rear Exterior Bricks and Repair Please

Hi. I've recently moved into a lovely home only I've started to wonder about the bricks on the rear exterior wall. The house was built around 1950 and the windows and patio doors have been replaced with uPVC ones. Above both the window and the patio door their seems to be small gaps going in a vertical zig zag direction which I guess is the fact their is no lintel or its failed. I've attached the photos and would welcome someone to confirm? I understand I could purchase and install helifex if that's the case?
Secondly some of the bricks are rather rough looking though I'm not sure given the age of the house whether this would be normal or be viewed as damaged and therefore should be replaced? The house isn't damp and otherwise okay but I don't want to leave it to get worse. I would get a surveyor in but obviously can't until lockdown is over. Thanks.
