Hi all, first post here so hopefully I've chosen the right part of the forum.
Background:
I have a single skin garage, attached to the side of my house. The right hand wall is the side of my house, the rear wall is my kitchen extension the left wall is single skin. The exterior is rendered with weathertex GRC fiberous render.
The brickwork on the external single skin wall is old and a bit battered. There also looks to be some raising damp along that wall, at least that's what I think it is, it looks like a water stain coming up maybe 5 inches. It's not got any worse within that last 7 years I've lived here. There's also a few patches where white fluff is coming out of the mortar between the bricks - only a few, seems worse in summer.
There is no ventilation, other than a few gaps around the garage door.
Question:
I use the garage as a home gym. I'd like to make it look a little nicer inside, by sorting the appearance of the walls out.
How would you do this:
1. Tanking slurry then paint on top?
2. Render the inside of the garage (only the external wall?)
3. Something else?
I'm a complete DIY noob but will likely be able to get help from my more experience father in law.
Thanks in advance.
