Messed up Last Year by Painting Decking and Advice Needed

Last year I moved into a house that already had decking installed.
It needed painting/staining so in my innocence I purchased some special offer stain from Ronseal,I do not even remember the name.One year on and it has virtually all been washed away.Obviously I messed up and this year want to do it correctly.Can someone please advise me on the best way to do this with product names if possible.?
