Hi all,

new here so go easy :-)

starting a project in the garden for raised garden beds and walls using railway sleepers.

i wondering what sort of power drill i would need to help drill through sleepers and also screw in the coach bolts.

I had a small cheap drill which was good for small screws but no good thick wood.

Any help please?

cheers all.

Standard combi drill should do the job, all be it slow. SDS Drill would get the job done easyer/faster.

I had to do this and bought a sds drill from aldi with a chuck attachment £35. It was way more powerful than my cordless drills and I used 400mm drill bits from toolstation £20. Then banged in some rebar through the holes. Did the job fine and cheaper than using timberlok screws.

The timber lock screws are more appropriate for the job and it doesn't cost that much.
