JCB Power tools and poor battery performance

Anyone else bought some jcb portable power tools only to be disappointed by the poor battery life? I've had mine a little over a year (most of which I have spent in hospital or recovering from multiple operations) only to find the batteries and the charger have died on me. not a happy bunny.
