Power drill doesn't remove screws anymore!

by gavindiy » Wed Mar 02, 2022 8:49 am

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question (from a very amateurish DIYer) ... but how come I can use my Bosch GBH 2000 power drill to drive in screws without a problem ... but when I click the reverse switch and try to remove a stubborn screw, the whole chuck just unwinds and then falls off? Is that meant to happen, or has something gone wrong with the drill?

Hi gavindiy,
Yes you’ve lost the screw which locks the chuck in place when in reverse mode.

Damn, looks like the wife is right again - I really do have a screw loose! Thanks for the quick reply Stonyboy - I didn't know about that at all; will take a close look and see if it's something I need to order from Bosch, or if I can rummage through the tool box and see if I can find one that fits.
