Removing Loft V Load Bearing Timbers

I am doing a simple loft conversion to make a storage space.
I have a beams in a V formation in the middle of the loft which I believe to be load bearing.
If I fix collar ties or purlin joints at the rafters, could i remove these load bearing beams that are in a V formation?
