Boarding over the Rafters in Loft Room

Good evening
We had our loft converted into a room, with a door leading in the unused space under the rafters.
The floor in the empty space has been insulated and boarded over, but the rafters and felt visivlble and unsightly.
I am putting shelving in the space for tidy storage, but will not look nice with the felt and cobwebs
Can I just cover with Hardboard or Plywood , leaving a gap top and bottom of the pitch for airflow or do I need to insulate then cover.
Any suggestions, thank you

Hi paulv,
Presumably you have some form of eaves/ridge ventilation, if yes fit boards with a top and bottom gaps.

Thank you for help
There looks like a gap where the ridges meet the floorboards , as you can see daylight, I presume this is the vent .
I don't plan on boarding the whole area, only about 1 1/2 meters in.

Yes, you can use hardboard or plywood to cover the felt and rafters while leaving a space for airflow. However, increasing insulation before covering the rafters will enhance comfort and energy efficiency.
