How to Modernise a Bedroom - Ideas Needed

by smileyface » Fri Aug 29, 2014 12:07 am

Hi I would like some advice if any can be given on how I could change my bedroom. It has been the same for 28 years and I am tired of looking at the same drab artex white wall paint. The furniture is dated and in need of a re-vamp as it is more laid out as a childs room rather than an adults.

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or any links that could help me in deciding what to do......I would love to see a total modernisation.

Hi,

The first thing we would do is get rid or the Artex ! You can see how to do this on this page: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/artex.htm

If you do not want to go to these engths you can cover the wallsby hanging fabrics etc.See how to do this on this page: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/fa ... erings.htm

There is also some helpon colour patterns and feature walls on this page: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/feature-walls.htm

Info on different types of wallcoverings is here https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/wallcoverings.htm and there are pages and pages about type of painting techniques which could be usefull.

Our woodworking pages show you allabout basic carpentry to make your own furniture and loads of stuff about how to fix things to all kinds of surfaces. Use the search box at the top of the site to find pretty much everything you need on alltypes of DIY.

Please do let us know how you get on.It's great to get feedback as it can helpso many other people with similar problems.
