Living Room Interior and Decorating Help - Wallpaper or Paint?

Hey Guys,

So I'm new to this forum and thought I'd try out my chances to see what advice people could give me :). So me and my partner moved into our newbuild last October, and now that it's been a year we thought it's time to consider ideas to decorate our home. We thought that we would start with the living room which is probably the most difficult!

Check out these photos:

Colour theme is Bright Red and Platinum Silver.

At the moment we have standard magnolia paint on the walls and are thinking of either painting or maybe adding some feature wallpaper? The wall opposite the sofa has a TV in front of it on a stand, but we are probably going to have a wall entertainment unit that should span across the room.

It's quite a long, narrow room - roughly 3 meters by 7 meters...

So, what do you think we should do with the walls?

All advice welcome :) thank you!

Hi there! What do you think about Wall Decals. I have friends who used Artollo Art Studio and their products, really fantastic! You can see it on http://www.artollo.com/.
And you can see how to work with from https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcrp1_ ... qkQ/videos. I hope i helped!

Perfect suggestion Elig. Wall decals would be a better idea to decorate your living room. Depending on your choice and mood, you can choose a wall decal, such as if you're a nature loving person you can go for a tree & bird wall decals & if you like gaming, then decorate your living room with Gaming wall decals. There's a huge variety of wall decals you can go for as per your choice.

Hi Rapidrat,

Unfortunately I couldn't see the pictures of the room, but I had a similar sized room which I struggled to decorate for a while!

I used a really subtle feature wall using a Designer's Guild damask wallpaper (from a site called fabricsandpapers.com - http://www.fabricsandpapers.com/brand/v ... wallpapers). I used the Contarini pattern in a grey, but I think all of them are subtle enough depending on the rest of the room!

So that the one wall wasn't overpowering but still stood out and worked to widen the space I kept everything quite light and neutral but with darker tones dotted around.

It is difficult with narrow rooms but it is very satisfying to get it right!

Good luck,

Nat xo

Have you ever thought about painting the walls first? And if you feel the wall seems a tad empty - you can always buy a Wall Decal! The good things about these is that you can easily remove them if you don't like it or decide to change your mind.
