Moved into a 1925 property a few months ago - it's got some great features, but nothing has been done to it for many many years so I intend to work my way slowly through.

The front lounge has some nice oak trim and floorboards I intend to sand as they are in decent condition. My thoughts at the moment is a claret colour for in between the oak trim, to open up the fire place for a log burner and finish the floorboards dark brown. My misses is against the dark floor, but where it is already coated, I think it looks good. Would you believe the original owners just treated the floor where there was no mat! The only furniture we will be keeping is the sofas - the rest has just been donated by family to tide us over.

After other ideas as I stick to what I know and find it hard to think outside the box. Any thoughts welcome.

Lovely woodwork in this room!

Have you considered a deep forest green? It is a traditional 1920's colour but would really make the timber tones pop!

For inspiration....

Dark green paint looks good with a good lighting. Something to think about hmm...

Right sophallan52, Dark green or wild green both are very suitable color on vintage home decor.
