Plaster and plasterboard wet and mouldy

Our builders insisted on plasterboarding the whole house and plastering the upstairs of our project before the roof was finished and the windows were in. 2 months later and it’s still not watertight so it’s been exposed to continual heavy rain.. the new insulation in the cavity walls is soaking wet, as is the plasterboard and plaster and all of the walls and ceilings are covered in mould. The builder is insisting this is fine and once it dries out it will be okay. Is that true or should we insist it’s redone?

Hi cmcd,
The wet cavity wall insulation will eventually dry out but the mould will remain in the plasterboard. Best solution is that it’s replaced, if you don’t persuade the builder to do this, you could retain sizeable amount of money and see if the mould penetrates any paint applied.
