14Kg into plasterboard - no stud

by jwilson » Tue Mar 04, 2008 10:10 am

Can anyone advise of how much weight teh most heavy duty plasterboard plugs can hold?

We have a 14kg cabinet which has 4 predrilled holes which will be goiing into internal plasterboard wall - cannot attache to stud partitions as not in the correct place.

Anyone any idea on the stregth of the heavy duty fixings or where i can get this info?

Cheers
Jonathan

the fixings will have no problem at all hanging that sort of weight. the fixings are much stronger than the plasterboard, thats what you really need to be concerned about - can the plasterboard take the weight? probably, bearing in mind you will use at least 2 fixings (ergo, 7kg per fixing) but then it depends on what you are going to put into the cabinet once its up.
