Hi,
Please could you advise me on disassembling a bathroom sink mixer tap. I've removed the cover/grub screw and with some "persuasion" got off the (stuck/corroded) top uni-lever/handle and following some WD40 action and patience also the collar/shroud to reveal what you see in my pix.
From YouTube videos, I was expecting to see something I could put a regular spanner off to release the cartridge but of course it wouldn't be that simple ;-).
What tool/technique do I need to unscrew this next bit to release the cartridge I presume is being held in by it.

Hi diytryer
You need to obtain or make a spanner which fits behind the lugs shown at 12 and 6 o clock in your second picture.
You will probably find it easier and cheaper to replace the tap.

Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly. I do take your point about replacing the whole thing but on the subject of the correct spanner tool to shift this if I wanted to persist - is there something you have in mind - what's it called please?

You will need to search for a face pin spanner wrench.
You may find an angle grinder spanner will do the job.
Both assume you can find the right size.
