Add a room thermostat to heating system

by skybluekev » Thu Aug 07, 2008 4:15 pm

Hi,
I was looking at adding a wireless thermostat to my boiler, i was wondering if i need to get a specific thermostat to suit the specific boiler or whether i can just buy any thermostat. Also on the instructions for the boiler it says i need to get a 24v thermostat, is this standard on thermostats because some that i have looked at does not specify the voltage. Thanks, Kev

Hi Kev

Had you had a look at the DIY project on Central Heating Thermostats: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/thermostats.htm This may be of some help to you or you may wish to contact Heatmiser for some further advice.

If you need 24 volt control you would normally use something with volt free contacts. Most electronic thermostats will come with volt free contacts.
