Adding a new switch and light to an existing circuit

Post by andyWin » Fri Jul 24, 2009 5:48 am

I have the configuration shown in the following link.

In this setup with the conservatory light switch off my lounge light switch operates the lounge lights correctly.

With the lounge light switch off the conservatory light switch turns the lounge lights on dimly.

The conservatory light never comes on.

If I connect the brown conservatory feed to the switch wire from the lounge switch I can control both lights correctly from one switch, but that is the best I can do, and would like to use both switches, any ideas??

Thanks

You,ll have your cables configurated incorrectly so your circuit is showing signs of series connections rather than parallel ones.
Look on electrical projects pages under replacing a ceiling rose will be good diagram there.
