addition to tv ariel wiring

by coully123 » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:52 pm

I have recently installed a tv in the bedroom. The easiest course for the ariel wire is to take it through the window frame and join into the ariel wire on the roof which feeds the tv in the living room. We have a good digital signal. Wonder if this is ok and what connector I would need to tap into the system.

You could use a splitter and join it to the other cable that feeds the living room at any point along the cable.

Any external junction would need to be protected from the elements. Some coaxial cables have hollow sections and could feed the water directly into the back of your TV. Even if you're not using one of these cables a wet junciton would be a bad thing for signal quality.
You could use a splitter and join it to the other hanble that feeds the living room at any point along the cable.
Thanks for your reply. Have done as you suggested but welcome your thoughts on the following. 1. The reception to the tv in the livingroom is as before. Can only obtain a small no. of channels in the bedroom (particularly no bbc 1 and 2). 2. should the screening copper in the cable make contact with the metal strip which holds the 3 cables in position in the ariel splitter? 3. The picture on the bedroom tv is ok when you look at the tv directly but when viewed at an angle the picture appears blurred. Would welcome your thoughts on the above. Thanks.
