Advice in removing internal plaster beads

by Samwp » Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:26 pm

We have a number of window reveals that might need to have the existing metal corner beads removed. I am looking for any advice on a way to remove the beads without causing too much damage to the rest of the wall. Any first-hand advice would be appreciated?

We known that the existing the beads are plastered on, not nailed.

Hi samwp,
If you have dry lined walls use a sharpened scraper to get under the wings and lift them off the plasterboard.
If you have masonry plastered walls use a sharp bolster chisel, cut in behind the bead corner and remove plaster back so there is none of the perforated wing left, do the same for the other side.
Regards S
