I am intending to convert an old stainless steel fire extinguisher into a desk lamp. I am planning to use a brass lamp holder also. My question is this,do I need to earth this and if so how do I do it?

It would be wise to earth any exposed metallic parts.
Purchase a lamp holder that has an earth terminal to connect the earth of flex to, Then drill a pilot hole in extinguisher casing to take a self taping screw and metallic washer, a cross bond can then be attached between lamp holder earth terminal and casing of extinguisher.

Once fitted, test that there is earth continuity between the earth pin of plug through to the casing of the extinguisher.

If I understand this correctly I need to:

1-wire the lamp holder
2-then run a second wire from the yellow and green connection, to the body of the fire extinguisher and fix with a washer and self tapping screw.

Sorry to be a pain but I have an allergy to electric shocks......
