Hi everyone, this is my first post and sorry its quite lengthy but I'm after some advice.
I've got my TV on my chimney breast (solid brick wall). I had a spark to put some power sockets/aerial point behind where the TV was going to go and I asked him to chase out to allow me to run HDMI cables from behind the TV into a alcove at the side.
He forgot to do this but and before I knew (had the work done before I moved into the house), the room had all been skimmed so it was too late and to be honest I didn't think it was that big of a deal at the time to go through all the hassle and mess of sorting it.
Whilst that work was ongoing, we had an old gas fire removed which left a void and we had that covered up with plasterboard and was skimmed at the same time as the rest of the room.
Long story short its now really annoying me not having the HDMI cables hidden. I was certain that the void from the old fireplace ran all the way down to the base of the wall and as such so would the plasterboard.
My plan was to drill a hole behind the TV to feed the HDMI cables through, drop them down the void to the base of the wall and then drill another hole into the plasterboard and then run the cables behind some new skirting board with a rebate in the back.
I've just taken the old skirting board off and realised I was wrong about the void we had filled and having looked on some "before" pictures I've now realised that there is about 12" of brick underneath and it doesnt go all the was to the bottom of the wall as I thought (I've attached the picture to show you).
I was thinking of still sticking to my original plan but obviously having to chase out an area underneath the void down to behind the shirting board but clearly this isn't ideal.
I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions to avoid having to do this? I'm not a fan of trunking so I dont want to use that on the outside of the wall.
Thanks in advance,
Wrighty
