Advice on Laying a Bathroom Floor Needed

by GrahamG » Sun Dec 15, 2019 5:06 pm

Hi,

I hoping that some can give me some advice about laying a new floor in my bathroom, I have some how agreed that for Xmas I would do this for my wife, thinking that it could be easy job

However....

We currently have vinyl planks stuck over the floorboards, and these make the loudest creaking.

So I really have a couple of questions.

How do I stop the squeaking on the floorboards?

Also the floorboards are also bowed, so would I be best laying some hardware boards over the top of the existing floorboards?,

We haven't decided whether to replace the vinyl planks or use laminate, I'm thinking that waterproof laminate would be best, so would that mean, I would have hardboard over the floorboards
then laminate floor underlay and finally the laminate?

Sorry if some of these questions sound a bit vague, but being a keen to achieve this myself I may have missed some of the basics.

Thanks

GrahamG
