I'd appreciate some advice on pitched roofed construction on a complete roof rebuild.
- Is it normal practice to join rafters? This is being done in several places around my roof quite close eaves i.e. around 1-2m from the final edge forming the roofline.
- when constructing a roof from a central ridge line with a large gable at 90 degrees to the main ledge [forming a valley]. is it usual to rest the end of the valley [at the eave] on a length of rafter/joist firmly attached to the ceiling joists below?
