AIR IN RADIATORS

by EPAX » Mon May 06, 2024 9:42 am

MY PLUMBER WANTS TO EXTEND THE EXPANSION TANK FEED PIPE TO BELOW THE WATER LEVEL IN THE TANK TO ELIMINATE AIR GETTING INTO THE RADIATORS. CURRENTLY I NEED TO BLEED 4 RADIATORS DAILY. IS HIS PROPOSAL LIKELY TO CAUSE FUTURE PROBLEMS TO THE SYSTEM.? I HAVE AN OPEN VENTED GAS FIRED SYSTEM

Hi epax,
I suspect he is proposing extending the vent pipe into the water level - yes this may create further problems with the system continuously pumping hot water through the cold feed tank. You could try his proposal but check the tank regularly - they are not designed for hot water.
